Hong Kong is set to host the ninth edition of Hong Kong Fintech Week (HKFW) from 28 October to 1 November 2024.

Themed “Illuminating New Pathways in Fintech,” this year’s event aims to solidify Hong Kong’s position as a leading global financial and fintech hub.

The event is organised by InvestHK and the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), and the Insurance Authority (IA).

HKFW is expected to attract over 30,000 participants from more than 100 economies.

The event will feature a main conference at Hong Kong AsiaWorld-Expo from 28-29 October, with a focus on the latest fintech innovations and trends, including artificial intelligence (AI).

Notably, Hong Kong has a high adoption rate of generative AI in the finance sector, surpassing global averages.

Attendees can expect insights from hundreds of speakers and engagement with numerous exhibitors, including a strong presence from Mainland Chinese big tech companies.

HKFW 2024 will also highlight Hong Kong’s role as a “super connector,” bridging markets across ASEAN and the Middle East.

The event programme includes eight themed forums covering topics like AI, blockchain, digital assets, and green finance.

The Global Fast Track programme will also play a significant role at the event, offering fintech innovators a platform to connect with potential investors and partners.

The programme, which received over 500 applications from 56 economies, will culminate in live pitches during the week, showcasing cutting-edge fintech solutions.

In addition to the conference, a series of community events will take place throughout the week, including a tour of the Greater Bay Area, the first-ever Web3x3 basketball tournament, and other satellite and networking events, lifestyle activities, and workshops.

Hong Kong Fintech Week 2024

The Web3x3 basketball tournament, the first of its kind at a fintech conference, will kick off with the preliminary round on 26-27 October at Kwun Tong City Centre Free Space and Playground, followed by the final rounds at AsiaWorld-Expo on 29 October.

Open to professionals from the Finance, Technology, and Web 3.0 sectors, teams must include at least one female player and adhere to FIBA 3×3 rules.

Teams will compete for prizes, with part of the entry fees supporting InspiringHK, a charity for underprivileged children in Hong Kong.
