Alipay Tap! in Macao was recently launched, enabling Alipay and Macau Pass to expand their partnership to bring it to more locations across Macao, enhancing payment convenience for tourists during the Chinese New Year.

The service now covers over 1,000 merchants, including restaurants, retail shops, and popular attractions like the Ruins of St. Paul’s and Rua da Cunha, offering a seamless shopping and travel experience.

Alipay Tap! is a contactless payment solution developed by Alipay, designed to simplify transactions by allowing users to make payments with a tap on their mobile devices. It eliminates the need to open the Alipay app or scan QR codes, making the process faster and more convenient for consumers and merchants.

Alipay Tap! offers Macao-exclusive discounts for Chinese New Year, including RMB 2 off per transaction (up to 10) and discounts up to RMB 98 after meeting spending requirements. Users can also collect coupons for up to RMB 888 off their first 10 transactions, with deals from various merchants.

Macau Pass, as a partner in the Alipay Tap! rollout, supports the service’s integration into Macao’s digital payment landscape, contributing to greater convenience for merchants and tourists alike.

The launch of Alipay Tap! in Macao has driven transaction volumes for merchants, improving operational efficiency during peak times. With marketing promotions and convenient payment options, customer spending has increased, boosting both transaction volume and revenue.

Alipay and Macau Pass plan to expand their partnership by rolling out Alipay Tap! across Macao, introducing services like “Tap to Order” and “Tap to Open Self-service Vending Machine.”

The Alipay Tap! in Macao initiative aims to provide more convenient payment options for tourists and merchants, driving the country’s digital transformation and supporting the growth of the digital economy within the Greater Bay Area.
