A 77-year-old coach has pleaded not guilty to indecently assaulting a teenage athlete in Tai Po around eight years ago.
The prosecution told the Fanling Magistracy that it plans to summon eight witnesses, and a pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for August 1.
It is alleged that the defendant, identified as "WH",' assaulted the girl, referred to as "X" to protect her identity, some time between September 1, 2009 and April 8, 2010 in Tai Po.
The legal action is the first case to emerge in Hong Kong which is associated with the world-wide "MeToo" movement – where women came out to speak against sexual abuses they had faced in the past.
