The Immigration Department says a Castle Peak Bay Immigration Centre detainee has died in hospital.

The department said the 48-year-old Bangladeshi man was found unconscious inside a dormitory a 7.20 pm on Saturday. Staff then called for an ambulance after administering first aid.

The man was declared dead at a public hospital just over an hour later.

The Immigration Department said it had reported the incident to the police, and that it would cooperate with the police in their investigation.
