Cheung Chau Bun Festival Too Hot For Some

There's been a drop in the number of visitors to the annual Cheung Chau bun festival and parade, with the continuing heatwave putting people off from going.
By 9pm on Tuesday, about 19,000 people had made the trip from Central to the island - a fifth fewer than last year, but still enough to require the scheduling of more ferries.
There have now been six consecutive days of very hot weather - defined by The Observatory as daily temperatures exceeding 33 degrees Celsius.
The winners of the main event - the bun tower scrambling competition - were fireman Kwok Ka-ming in the men's race, while professional rock-climber Wu Wing-yu took the women's event. It was the second successive win - and eighth in total - for Cheung Chau resident Kwok.
The island festival also features parades, including children dressing up as famous figures.
It's traditionally a boon-day for the island's shops and stallholders, who sell snacks, cold drinks and - most famously - lucky buns.
