A student union leader at Baptist University was released on bail on Tuesday after appearing in court accused of possessing offensive weapons, namely laser pointers.
Keith Fong, 22, is also accused of perverting the course of justice by allegedly clearing his mobile phone, and resisting arrest.
He was arrested last week for a second time over laser pointers he was allegedly caught with in Sham Shui Po in August last year.
Fong did not need to enter a plea at West Kowloon Court and the case was adjourned for three weeks while the prosecution applies to have the proceedings transferred to the District Court.
The student was released on bail of HK$10,000 and was ordered to surrender his travel documents and observe a curfew.
