Andy Chu talks to RTHK's Janice Wong

Greenpeace has called on the government to provide a clear definition on what it considers to be the "fringes" of country parks.

Campaigner Andy Chu said on Wednesday that this would help the public decide whether they support developing these parts of Hong Kong, during the ongoing consultation on land supply.

His call comes after the group's latest study shows that half of more a thousand people surveyed are against developing the perimeters of parks to help tackle Hong Kong's shortage of residential land.

He told RTHK's Janice Wong that he was not surprised by the findings.

"The government hasn't explained clearly what's the fringe of the country park. And what's the standard, how do we define in the future which part of the country park will become the fringe area," he said.

"That's the chaos or at least the confusion generated by the government."
