On 18 March 2025, HashKey Capital received a Type 1 licence from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), further strengthening its regulated operations under the SFC.

HashKey Capital holds a Type 9 licence, which allows the company to offer asset management products to both retail and institutional clients. Recently, it received approval to provide discretionary account management for virtual assets (VA) under this licence. The company also holds a Type 4 licence, obtained in May last year, enabling it to provide securities and virtual asset investment advisory services.

As HashKey Capital secures its type 1 licence, it can now offer brokerage services to both retail and professional investors. It will also be able to market and distribute funds and structured products, including those linked to virtual assets.

“The Type 1 licence enhances our capabilities and provides significant value to investors. It enables us to offer a broader range of investment opportunities, catering to different risk preferences with a strong focus on risk management and long-term growth.”

The new offerings fall into three primary categories.

In the market access category, the company offers brokerage services for two groups: connecting TradFi clients with crypto exchanges and linking crypto-native clients to brokers. Under this arrangement, HashKey Capital will not hold custody of any client assets.

Under the Investment Funds category, HashKey Capital now offers clients access to a range of quantitative strategies, including arbitrage trading, commodity trading advisory (CTA), market neutral, and trend-following. This is in addition to the HashKey FTSE Digital Asset Top 20 Index Fund and its two ETFs.

Finally, under the Structured Products category, HashKey Capital offers clients a range of investment options, including principal-protected solutions, yield enhancement products, binary options, dual-currency offerings, and other advanced strategies.

HashKey Capital’s offerings are designed to meet the needs of investors with diverse goals, such as capital preservation or hedging, across various types of investors.

HashKey Capital is expanding its lineup of financial products. After launching the HashKey Top 20 Index Fund, the company plans to introduce more tracker funds later this year. With approval from the SFC to develop new investment options,

HashKey Capital will work with financial institutions worldwide to deliver more institutional-grade digital asset products, given that HashKey Capital secures type 1 licence already.
