A national security judge handling the court case of radio host Wan Yiu-sing has adjourned the proceedings after the defendant made a request to be sent to hospital.
Wan, who is also known as Giggs, was due to appear in West Kowloon Magistracy on Monday accused of four counts of intending to cause sedition against the central and Hong Kong governments, exciting disaffection or suggesting disobedience of the law.
The charges relate to radio shows between August and October last year.
Wan, 52, is being prosecuted under the Crimes Ordinance. But he was arrested by national security police officers and his case is being handled by chief magistrate Victor So who is a designated national security judge.
It wasn't immediately known why Wan was admitted to hospital.
So adjourned the case until Thursday, or whenever Wan is discharged from hospital.
Journalists and members of the public attending the hearing were subject to extra security checks, such as having their bags searched.
Wan's arrest on Sunday was his second in recent months.
He was arrested last November on suspicion of money laundering and funding secessionist activities, but was not charged.
