Health Secretary Sophia Chan says she does not see a need for now to extend the Lunar New Year vacation for kindergartens to cope with the peak flu season.

The government earlier asked childcare centres and kindergartens to start the holiday about a week earlier due to flu outbreaks at the facilities.

Professor Chan says the measure has proven effective in easing the flu situation among young children.
