The jury considering whether former Hong Kong Indigenous spokesman Edward Leung and four other defendants are guilty of rioting-related charges will continue its deliberations on Friday morning.
The nine-member jury has been deliberating on the charges, related to the accused's alleged involvement in the 2016 Lunar New Year clashes in Mong Kok, since Wednesday.
Earlier on Thursday, the jury asked trial Judge Anthea Pang for directions over the legal definition of the word “intention”, and asked for an additional hour to deliberate at about 8pm.
However, at 9pm no decision had been reached, and they will continue their discussions on Friday morning.
Leung, 26, denies rioting and inciting others to riot, but earlier pleaded guilty to a separate charge of assaulting police. The other defendants are Lee Nok-man, Lo Kin-man, Lam Ngo-hin and Lam Lun-hing.
