A domestic helper was jailed for six months on Wednesday for flushing a foetus down a public toilet at a market in North Point.

Suwasti, who's from Indonesia, earlier pleaded guilty to concealing the birth of the girl, around six months into her pregnancy.

Eastern Court heard that the foetus was discovered last November after a cleaner noticed a toilet at Java Road Market was blocked.

In mitigation, the defence lawyer said Suwasti, 34, committed the crime after listening to the advice of her boyfriend.

Psychological and probation reports said she was under pressure at the time and was unlikely to reoffend.
