  • Most pan-dems stay away from Legco lunch for CE

Most pro-democracy lawmakers skipped a Legco spring lunch with the Chief Executive, Carrie Lam, on Monday.

The banquet was attended by top ministers, executive councillors and most pro-establishment lawmakers, but only five pro-democracy lawmakers were present.

Speaking at the event, Legco president Andrew Leung said the executive branch's ties with the legislature have improved since Carrie Lam took up her post and he hopes the relationship will keep improving in the future.

The Democratic Party's Helena Wong said there was no planned boycott as such, as lawmakers made their own individual decisions on whether to attend the lunch or not.

Wong said she went to the banquet so she could express her concerns about the plan for a joint checkpoint at the West Kowloon express rail terminus to Justice Secretary Teresa Cheng.
