The Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects is proposing to overhaul the Tsim Sha Tsui bus terminus in front of the Star Ferry. It wants to transform it into a plaza, complete with fountains, benches and trees for the public to enjoy.

The idea is still at an early stage but the group plans to present a proposal to the Harbourfront Commission soon.

The institute's vice-president, Iris Hui, said the current set-up was a waste of a prime waterfront location.

She said, under their plan, buses would still stop in the area but the terminus could be moved elsewhere. She said the West Kowloon Cultural District would be a good option as it is currently under development.
