Police on Monday said they arrested and charged two former flight attendants of an airline for violating Covid rules.
Earlier this month, Cathay Pacific announced that it fired two aircrew members who were suspected of breaching Covid protocols.
The airline had described the actions of individuals who broke medical surveillance regulations as "extremely disappointing".
In a statement, the force said that investigations revealed that the two people arrived in Hong Kong from the United States on December 24 and 25 of last year.
During their medical surveillance periods, they conducted “unnecessary activities" in contravention of the Prevention and Control of Disease Regulation on December 25 and 27.
They subsequently tested positive for the highly-infectious Omicron variant of the coronavirus.
The pair has been released on bail and their cases will be heard at Tuen Mun Magistrates’ Courts and the Eastern Magistrates’ Courts on February 9.
