Primary schools and kindergartens have strengthened measures to prevent the spread of flu as classes resumed on Friday after a two-week break.
At some schools, students were asked to disinfect their hands. Teachers also took students' temperatures before letting them enter.
The schools also said their premises have been thoroughly disinfected. Some are also asking all students to wear face masks.
But some parents said they felt that schools should have extended their break being as the flu season is continuing.
The government had ordered all primary schools and kindergartens to start their Lunar New Year holiday early this time as the city experienced a surge in flu cases. The holiday period began on February 8, about a week earlier than scheduled.
