  • T8 to stay in effect till before dawn

The Observatory said the No. 8 signal will be in force at least before dawn on Wednesday.

The Observatory said according to its forecast track, Severe Tropical Storm Kompasu will be closest to Hong Kong early tomorrow morning, skirting within 400 kilometres to the city's south.

Kompasu is moving across the northern part of the South China Sea towards Hainan island.

The Observatory called on the public to stay vigilant and take precautions against strong winds and possible flooding.

The Northeast Gale or Storm Signal No. 8 was issued at 5:20pm on Tuesday.
