The Security Bureau says around 970 rooms at the newly built Tsing Yi isolation camp were in use by Tuesday morning, making it about 80 percent full.

The bureau said there had been a favourable response to a hotline set up by the Fire Services Department on Sunday for people infected with Covid who want to go into a community isolation facility.

Under the scheme, anyone who tests positive and is experiencing mild or no symptoms can send an email, WhatsApp, or WeChat message to the department.

The bureau added that it will continue to refine the services at the camp to let people under isolation feel at ease, including communicating with them using “small-district management” and a “humanised approach”.

A spokesman said the bureau will also provide different meal options for the occupants, including halal and vegetarian food.

Newspapers, magazines, online entertainment platforms and toys can also be obtained, the spokesman added.
