The government on Saturday began allowing residents to leave a building in Tuen Mun that was subject to a two-day extended lockdown, as at least 13 preliminary positive cases were identified there.

Officials had moved in at Hing Ping House on the Tai Hing Estate on Thursday evening, and the authorities announced on Friday morning that people would not be allowed to leave on schedule because of the number of cases found.

In all, 5,388 tests were carried out. Thirteen of them came back preliminary positive and two were deemed to be "indeterminate".

People who have spent time in the block must also take tests.
