Mainland woman Tang Lin-ling on Thursday admitted taking three photographs during a High Court hearing, but denied she had committed criminal contempt of court.

Tang is being put on trial for the alleged unlawful photography after several days of hearings which saw her dismiss her barrister, a warrant issued for her arrest, and claims Jesus had told her she was innocent.

She is accused of taking photographs of lawyers and defendants involved in a trial linked to the 2014 Occupy movement while she was sitting in the public gallery on May 23.

Two of the photos were allegedly uploaded onto her WeChat messenger app.

Tang, who is representing herself in the trial and claims to have had legal training abroad, told judge Andrew Chan that despite taking the photos, she did not believe she had committed the contempt offence.

She has spent the last two nights in custody after failing to pay her bail money and giving the court a fake address.
