Asymptomatic Covid Cases Soar Past 10,000 On Mainland

The daily tally of local asymptomatic coronavirus cases on the mainland soared past the 10,000 mark on Sunday.
A total of 11,691 people tested positive for Covid-19 without any symptoms, two-thirds of whom were from Shanghai.
There were 1,455 symptomatic infections nationwide, most of which were from the Jilin province, followed by Shanghai.
In Shanghai, the number of symptomatic cases jumped to 438 from 260 the day before.
Shanghai's asymptomatic infections also rose to 7,788, up from 6,051 reported the previous day.
Millions of residents in the financial hub are being screened for Covid-19 amid a two-stage lockdown, as officials try to suppress the spread of the Omicron variant.
