Organisers of the Beijing autoshow, which was scheduled to be held in late April, have reportedly postponed the event due to a recent flare up of Covid-19 cases.
Auto China, the event's organisers, have yet to decide on a new date, sources told the Reuters news agency.
Auto China did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The postponement comes as the mainland is fighting its biggest wave of locally transmitted Covid cases since the beginning of the pandemic, with multiple provinces rolling out movement controls.
The trade show in the world’s largest auto market alternates each year between Beijing and Shanghai.
It traditionally attracts both international and domestic automakers, including Volkswagen, Toyota, and Geely, and is often used as a launch pad to announce new products.
The Beijing autoshow was also postponed for five months in 2020 due to the coronavirus.
Meanwhile, the National Health Commission reported 1,301 domestic symptomatic Covid cases across the country, down from 2,010 on Thursday.
Jilin remains the hardest hit province, with 85 percent of the infections.
The mainland saw an increase in the number of asymptomatic local cases, from 2,722 to 3,489. (Additional reporting by Reuters)
