Chinese-Canadian pop star Kris Wu has been jailed for 13 years by a mainland court after he was found guilty of crimes including rape.

The court in Chaoyang district in Beijing said the celebrity, also known as Wu Yifan, was sentenced to 11 years and six months in prison for rape, and one year and 10 months for the crime of gathering people to commit adultery, with parts to be served concurrently.

The court said Wu, 32, will be deported after serving a 13-year term.

The court said investigations showed he raped three women from November to December 2020.

Officials from the Canadian embassy in China attended the court hearing.

Wu was a member of the boy band Exo before he left the group and launched a solo career. (Agencies)
