The Foreign Ministry on Tuesday rejected US claims of a Chinese "secret police station" in New York.
Spokesman Wang Wenbin told a regular news briefing that China maintains a policy of non-interference in other countries and these alleged police stations do not exist.
"The relevant claims have no factual basis, and there is no such thing as an overseas police station," he said.
"China has always adhered to the principle of non-interference in other countries’ internal affairs, strictly abided by international law, and respected the judicial sovereignty of all countries. We hope the relevant party will stop hyping and making an issue out of the matter."
His comments followed the arrest of two New York residents by US federal agents on Monday for allegedly operating a Chinese "secret police station" in the Chinatown district of Manhattan.
US authorities said it was part of a crackdown on Beijing's alleged targeting of dissidents. (Reuters)
