China kicked off its qualifying campaign for the 2023 U-17 Asian Cup 2023 with a whopping 9-0 win over Cambodia in Shepparton, Australia on Wednesday.

In cold and rainy conditions, Zhang Junjie slotted home from inside the box to open the scoring for China 15 minutes in. Huang Kaijun scored from a tight angle not long after, followed by a header from his teammate Wang Yudong. China ended the first half 4-0 up, after Kuai Jiwen scored a goal in first-half injury time.

In the second half, Wang shifted past Cambodian defenders to score his second goal about 60 minutes in and struck a hat trick into an empty net just two minutes later.

Wang Haobin and Li Ming also got on the scoreboard, with the last goal scored by Ouyang Jiaxin in stoppage time.

China's next match is on Friday against the Northern Mariana Islands. (Xinhua)
