A woman in Zhongshan, just to the north of Macau, has tested positive for Covid-19. The Xinhua News Agency said the 24-year-old sought treatment in a local hospital on Wednesday and returned a positive nucleic acid test early Thursday morning.
Shenzhen has reported a number of coronavirus cases recently.
The National Health Commission earlier reported 124 new locally transmitted Covid-19 infections.
Henan accounted for 76, six were in Shaanxi, one in Guangdong and 41 in Tianjin.
Because of the Omicron outbreak in Tianjin and the surge in Covid infections there, Volkswagen Group's China unit has shut a plant it jointly runs with the FAW Group in the northern port city, as well as a component factory. All its employees have been tested twice, a spokesperson said, and it hopes to resume production very soon.
