Daily Mainland Covid Caseload Surpasses 25,000

The number of new Covid-19 cases on the mainland has topped 25,000.
The National Health Commission reported 2,276 locally transmitted and 22,853 asymptomatic cases on Thursday for a total of 25,129.
That's up from 23,132 the day before.
Guangdong province accounted for 10,448 of the latest infections. A majority of the cases were from Guangzhou where authorities were stepping up infection-control measures and the construction of makeshift hospitals and quarantine facilities.
Infections were also on the rise in Chongqing which saw 4,666 new cases, while the daily caseload in Beijing stood at 466.
No new deaths were reported for the day. (Additional reporting by Xinhua)
