The widow of the Nobel Peace laureate, Liu Xiaobo, has been quoted as saying she's ready to die, as part of her struggle.
Liu Xia has been under house arrest at her home in Beijing for several years.
The couple's friend, Liao Yiwu, quoted Liu as saying she's not afraid of anything now, and if she couldn't avoid detention, "dying is easier than staying alive", now that her husband's gone.
Liu died of cancer last year while serving a jail term for subversion.
Liao has released a recording of his phone conversation with Liu Xia, during which they discussed her attempt to leave China and go to Germany.
