Former vice minister of public security Sun Lijun has been removed from his post and expelled from the Communist Party for corruption.
The announcement by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission on Thursday followed an investigation into Sun that began last year.
The probe found that he sold official posts for money and deserted his post in the fight against Covid-19, among other crimes.
Sun now faces a criminal investigation.
