The National Health Commission reported 175 locally transmitted Covid-19 cases on Tuesday.
But the coronavirus outbreak in Qingdao appears to have been brought more under control, with just 31 cases reported in the port city's surrounding province of Shandong.
The new local infection hotspots are Jilin, which reported 46 cases, and Guangdong, with 45.
There were also 10 cases in Jiangsu and Gansu, with the rest spread around 11 other provinces and regions, the commission said in its daily report.
It also confirmed 150 imported Covid-19 cases, five of them in Shanghai.
