Macau Legco Chief Announces Bid For CE Post

The president of Macau's Legislative Assembly, Ho Iat-seng, has officially announced he'll contest the upcoming Chief Executive election.
Announcing this at a press conference at Macau Tower, the 62-year-old said he is committed to improving the economy and people's livelihood, while safeguarding One Country, Two Systems and Macau's high level of autonomy.
The businessman and veteran politician added that one of his priorities is to successfully integrate the former Portuguese colony with the rest of the Greater Bay Area.
Macau's next leader will be selected by a 400 member-strong election committee, and the vote will take place on August 25.
While Ho is tipped to be the front-runner; three others have expressed their intention to run.
They are businessman Leong Kwok-chou, colourful protester and activist Hoi Vong-chong, and a woman named Choi Teng-teng, who claims she is a former construction and garment sector worker, according to media reports.
