Macau permanent residents will receive planned cash handouts of 10,000 patacas from April, it was announced on Friday.

Non-permanent residents will get 6,000 patacas.

The SAR's government has been dishing out cash annually since 2008.

The handouts, worth a total of more than 7.2 billion patacas, will be distributed to residents in phases.

Beneficiaries of an elderly subsidy will be among the first to receive the money on April 1, with the last batch going out on May 13.

Separately, a medical voucher worth 600 patacas will be available to Macau's permanent residents from May, to be used over the next two years.
