The mainland's National Health Commission on Monday reported another 802 domestic Covid-19 infections, with 174 symptomatic cases and 628 asymptomatic ones.
Eighty-three symptomatic cases came from Beijing and 55 from Shanghai.
But Shanghai accounted for the bulk of the asymptomatic cases.
The port city of Tianjin saw 32 cases with symptoms and 15 without.
One more Covid patient in Shanghai has passed away.
Officials in Beijing called on people who might have come in touch with confirmed cases to report to the authorities and comply with infection control measures.
They appealed for understanding and support for frontline anti-epidemic workers.
In Shanghai, authorities said businesses and individuals should follow guidelines set out by the government as the city reopens gradually following weeks of lockdown.
