The nation's top legislature, the NPC, on Saturday morning began its annual meeting in Beijing. The session opened with Premier Li Keqiang delivering the government's work report - which has set a target for GDP growth in 2022 of 5.5 percent.
The report went on to say the mainland plans to create 11 million new urban jobs and is aiming for an urban unemployment rate of no more than 5.5 percent for this year.
China has set its inflation target at around 3 percent for the coming year.
Premier Li says despite growth of 8.1 percent last year, the mainland is facing the triple pressures of shrinking demand, disrupted supply and weakening expectations.
And the work report stresses that economic stability must be made the top priority for 2022. (Xinhua)
