Starry Lee speaks to RTHK's Timmy Sung in Beijing
Hong Kong representatives of the mainland's top advisory body say they've not been formally notified about a rumoured plan to merge the State Council's Hong Kong and Macau Affairs office with its Taiwan office.
Local newspapers are reporting that the move is being taken to more effectively counter independence movements in all three territories.
But CPPCC delegates that RTHK spoke in Beijing to all say they've not heard anything official about the proposal.
One of them, DAB chairwoman Starry Lee said that this may be part of a larger restructuring plan.
Asked if the change was partly triggered by advocacy of independence by some people in Hong Kong, she said "it's difficult to say".
"The final decision has not yet come out. I think all these structural reviews have to be done regularly," she said.
