Fifty-two people have been arrested in eastern Jiangsu Province on the mainland for setting up live-streaming platforms for showing pornography and earning 3.5 million yuan from the operation.

The National Office Against Pornographic and Illegal Publications said that in another case, suspects in eastern Zhejiang Province set up a website for spreading porn videos and forwarded the website link to 126 WeChat groups, each with 500 accounts. They earned more than 10 million yuan.

The office said most of the lawbreakers who operated live-porn video streaming platforms tried to escape punishment by changing accounts and IPs, using overseas servers, or spreading content in social media chat groups.

"Spreading porn online harms both the physical and mental health of the people, especially adolescents. It also disrupts 'market order', tramples the law and compromises social morals," the office said.

It said it would work with the Ministry of Public Security to carry out investigations and deal with the problem. (Xinhua)
