Seven people have been detained and more than a dozen others are being questioned over a roof collapse in Baise, Guangxi, which left at least four people dead, mainland media reports.

The roof of a bar caved in in the early hours of Monday morning, Xinhua News Agency reported.

It said that as well as the four fatalities, 87 people were injured. By Tuesday morning all of those hurt were reported to be in a stable condition.

Xinhua did not specify who had been detained but said it was on suspicion of "causing a major safety accident".

The 700-square metre bar, in the Youjiang district of the city, was located on the top floor of a three-storey steel-framed building.

It was unclear how many people were inside when the roof came down. An investigation is underway into what caused the collapse.
