The head of the fire fighting force in northern Taiwanese city of Taoyuan resigned on Monday, taking responsibility for a fatal weekend fire that left seven, including five firefighters, dead.
Hu Yin-da's resignation has been approved by Taoyuan's mayor, Cheng Wen-tsan.
Two Thai migrant workers were also killed in the fire that swept through the plant belonging to Chin Poon Industrial Company, west of Taipei.
Authorities said large amounts of flammable chemicals helped fuel the fatal blaze.
The inferno raged through the eight-floor building of the circuit board maker and seven firefighters were trapped by large fallen objects as they tried to search for people inside the factory.
They were rescued early on Sunday but only two survived. (Additional reporting by AFP)
