US warships have again sailed through the Taiwan Strait, military officials say, in a move likely to spark protests from Beijing.
Taiwan said the ships passed through the waterway on Sunday as part of their "strategic Indo-Pacific tasks."
A spokesman for the US military said the ships’ transit through the strait demonstrates Washington's commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific.
The destroyers were identified as the USS William P Lawrence and the USS Stethem.
It was the seventh time that American navy ships had passed through the strait since last July.
Beijing was yet to respond to the reports. Last week, it complained to Paris after a French warship sailed through the Taiwan Strait.
