UK Appoints Former HK Consul As Ambassador To China

The UK government says it has appointed a former Hong Kong and Macau consul general as ambassador to China. Caroline Wilson, who was based in Hong Kong between 2012 and 2016, will succeed Dame Barbara Woodward.
The posting has now been approved by Beijing
After her stint in Hong Kong, Wilson returned to work in London as Europe Director at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
Wilson joined the UK's Foreign Office in 1995 after qualifying as a barrister. She previously worked in the British embassy in Beijing between 1997 and 2000.
