The People's Daily newspaper says Wuhan police have revoked the letter of admonition given to the late Dr Li Wenliang. He was one of the first doctors in Wuhan to draw attention to the outbreak of Covid-19 in the city, only to be reprimanded by officials.

The Communist Party's flagship paper said the Wuhan Public Security Bureau had also apologised to the doctor's family.

Dr Li, who was 34, died last month of the disease.

Wuhan police made the announcement on its official Sina Weibo account on Thursday, the People's Daily said.
