President Xi Jinping will hold talks with his US counterpart, Joe Biden, on Friday.
The Foreign Ministry said the two leaders will exchange views on bilateral relations and issues of common concern on Friday evening, Beijing time.
The White House also confirmed the meeting scheduled for 9pm, Beijing time.
"This is part of ongoing efforts to maintain open lines of communication between the United States and the (People's Republic of China)," according to the US statement.
"The two leaders will discuss managing the competition between the two countries as well as Russia's war against Ukraine and other issues of mutual concern," it said. (Additional reporting by Xinhua, Reuters)
