Alfred Sit Visits 1823 Centre
Secretary for Innovation & Technology Alfred Sit today visited the 1823 Government Call Centre to thank those handling public questions and complaints about government services.
Managed by the Efficiency Office, the 1823 centre provides one-stop round-the-clock service to answer enquiries for 23 participating departments and receive complaints, suggestions and compliments on all government services.
Mr Sit said that public demands for 1823 services are on the increase, in particular epidemic-related enquiries. In 2020, it received some 4.74 million calls and 500,000 emails and text messages from the Tell [email protected] mobile app.
He encouraged 1823 staff to serve the public with dedication on the front line to foster communication between the Government and the people.
In fighting COVID-19, the 1823 Government Call Centre supports related hotlines including the COVID-19 hotline for the Department of Health, the CuMask+™ hotline, the Universal Community Testing Programme hotline and the Return2hk Scheme hotline.
While according priority in handling calls related to the pandemic, 1823 maintains normal services as far as possible.
