A top executive at an elevator company, Joseph Armas, was on Friday elected as the new chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong.
Armas, who is the managing director of Otis Elevator for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, will take up his post next year.
Geoffrey Siebengartner, FedEx's managing director of regulatory and government affairs for Asia Pacific, will take over as vice-chairman of the chamber.
The election of the new leadership came just days after AmCham president Tara Joseph revealed that she is stepping down.
Joseph, who was away from Hong Kong, said she could not appeal to the government to relax quarantine requirements for travellers if she was undergoing quarantine herself.
As for her successor, AmCham said a search committee has been convened and a firm appointed to start a global recruitment process next year.
