Belt-Road Joint Conference To Be Held

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will hold the first Belt & Road Joint Conference in Beijing on June 12 in collaboration with central authorities.

They include the National Development & Reform Commission and the Hong Kong & Macao Affairs Office.

The conference will focus on strategising Hong Kong's full participation in the Belt & Road Initiative along with work priorities and proposals to be implemented for the year.

This follows an arrangement signed between the HKSAR Government and the commission in December for a joint conference mechanism to be set up between the three parties for regular and direct communication.

Secretary for Justice Teresa Cheng, Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Edward Yau, Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Patrick Nip and Under Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Joseph Chan will attend.

They will depart for Beijing tomorrow along with representatives from the Development Bureau, Invest Hong Kong, the Monetary Authority, the Insurance Authority and the Trade Development Council.

During Mr Yau’s and Mr Nip’s absence, Under Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Bernard Chan and Under Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Andy Chan will be Acting Secretaries.
