Budget Consultation Begins

The Government today launched the public consultation exercise for the 2022-23 Budget.

Financial Secretary Paul Chan said that after going through the challenges of the past two years or so, Hong Kong's economy has been steadily improving this year with annual economic growth expected to reach 6.4%.

Looking to the year ahead, he said the external political and economic environment is still complex and volatile and the pace of global economic recovery uneven and inconsistent with possible fluctuations in the epidemic situation.

The Financial Secretary said that when preparing the 2022-23 Budget, the Government will closely monitor the internal and external situations and provide support for and ease the pressure on affected businesses and the public when needed.

“We will also focus on strengthening and driving a sustained economic recovery for Hong Kong. I hope members of the community will express their views and provide suggestions on the coming Budget, and join hands to make Hong Kong a better home for everyone."
