CE To Attend Bay Area Talks

Chief Executive Carrie Lam says she will visit Guangzhou this afternoon to meet senior Guangdong officials to discuss collaboration on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area development.

Speaking ahead of today’s Executive Council meeting, Mrs Lam said she will meet Secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee Li Xi and Guangdong Governor Ma Xingrui.

They will follow up on the matters discussed during Mr Li’s November visit to Hong Kong, and make preparations for the second plenary meeting of the leading group for the development of the Greater Bay Area.

The meeting will also cover this year’s plan to jointly promote the bay area overseas.

Mrs Lam added the outline for the bay area’s development is expected to be endorsed by the Central Government in a month or two and that it will be announced upon approval.

She also hopes the community will give its feedback on the direction of the development for the overall benefit of the plan.
