Coin Collection Schedule Set
The Monetary Authority today announced the service schedule for its Coin Collection Programme from July 29 to September 29.
The authority’s two Coin Carts will travel to Hong Kong’s 18 districts to collect coins.
People can choose to exchange their coins for banknotes or add value to their Octopus cards or e-wallets. There is also a Community Chest donation box in each vehicle.
The collected coins will be re-circulated to meet demand.
The carts have carried out 591,000 transactions, collecting 483 million coins worth $684 million, since the programme’s launch in 2014.
