  • Draft paper on new listing rules to be issued soon

HKEx chairman CK Chow said on Tuesday that the exchange will soon issue a draft paper on new listing rules which aim to attract innovative new economy companies to go public in Hong Kong.

This follows a consultation last year on how to relax listing regulations for such companies which may, for example, have weighted voting rights or are already listed on the mainland.

Chow said there'll be a second round of consultation before the plan is finalised. He said he hopes to see new types of companies being listed here in the second half of the year.

Chow said in the coming year, HKEx will continue to develop the connection of the securities markets between the city and the mainland, develop new derivatives products from A-shares and improve the current Bond Connect arrangement.
