Edward Yau To Visit SE Asia

Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Edward Yau will visit Cambodia and Vietnam from March 19 to 23.

During the trip, Mr Yau will lead a 48-strong delegation of businessmen and professionals.

The visit will enhance relations, expand business networks and help identify and explore opportunities brought by the Belt & Road Initiative.

Mr Yau said: "The mission is the first of its kind to Southeast Asia since we signed a free trade agreement and a related investment agreement with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

"It will enable our delegation, comprising entrepreneurs and professionals from sectors including commerce and industry, accounting and finance, legal and dispute resolution services, startups and others, to showcase our strengths, get first-hand information on the local business environment and open up collaboration opportunities."

The delegation will visit Phnom Penh in Cambodia on March 19 to 20 and then travel to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in Vietnam on March 21.

They will meet local business leaders and government representatives overseeing industry, investment and trade promotion and visit local factories and industrial parks.

Mr Yau will also meet local government officials and Chinese Ambassadors in both countries to deepen relationships.
